As far as i rembember, we have lots of operators competing for the no. 1 slot in cellular market. But from time to time the market has undergone consolidation, Maxis merged ngan TimeCel lah.. pastu under Telekom lak Celcom merged ngan TMTouch... DiGi menteeeen as a niche player on its own... and for the result.. today we have only 3 major operators. The market today is very competitive with telcos waging a fierce marketing war to become a leader plus to win the hearts and minds of consumers.
Handphones are treated as one of essential in our daily lives, while for most of the teens its a reflection of fashion and trendy. ( kecik2 dulu kekawan pg skolah bawak tumbler air yg bentuk atur beso gedabak tu (dah kira trendy la tuh).. mintak mak beli pon mak tamau.. suh guna yg biasa je... sekali skrng... anak sedara yg sekolah rendah pon bawak enpon idup pg skolah.. lambat sket gi amik.. tepon trus!.. "acu!!! where are u?" huhuhuhu).
Berbalik kepada war among telcos ni..Since the booming of text messaging n skrng we have GPRS and WAP technologies. Telcos berperang utk launch various packages priced competitively (RM20 for Hotlink and Celcom prepaid packages while RM18 for DiGi) , teaming up with various suppliers and dealers with discounts offer, offering automatic reloading services, wider coverage, lower sms rate, bla bla bla.. especially utk prepaid punya packages.
So for each everyone of us..we must have our very own reason(s) (or maybe for no reason) why we choose to subscribe for a certain service provider.
Sebab service provided ke? Coverage OK ke? Guna Hotlink sbb Siti ke? (ekeke..) even the sms rate among Hotlink subscribers was lowered to 5 cents currently. While DiGi came out with 3 cents the lowest sms rate to date.. but one thing bout DiGi... its Customer Service even called to check if their customer has any problem with their prepaid line.
Bout a week ago i recieved a phone call from DiGi Customer Service.. asking me why did i terminated my DiGi prepaid line. And that lady even asked me.. what can DiGi do to win my heart back. She even tried to convince me that the 3 cents rate for SMS was actually suggested by one of the customers. Since i have no idea.. i suggested that DiGi offer free SMS for Digi subscribers plus much much more lower rate of phone calls. Ahaks!
So DiGi's subsribers out there.. if it happens that DiGi accept my idea.. hey! give me a treat! Double cheeseburger will do ahaha!
Apa apa pon (ececeh!) diorang nk perang ke nak apa ke.. hik.. diorang nk increase their brand profile ke rebuild a brand ke.. nk perabih duit kita ke.. janji servicenya tip top gaks!
sekian pembebelan saya tentang industri telekomunikasi negara kita.
